Meishan Meat is much richer in flavor than traditional pork. This combined with the fats ability to render at a lower temperature makes Meishan extra tender.

Fall — Slow-Cooked Meishan Pork Butt with Apples & Root Veggies

Cut: Pork Butt
Serves: 6
Prep + Cook: 3.5 hours

Ingredients:

  • 3 lbs pork butt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt & pepper
  • 2 apples, sliced
  • 3 carrots, chopped
  • 2 parsnips, chopped
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 sprigs rosemary
  • 2 sprigs sage
  • 1 cup apple cider

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F. Brown pork in oil, season well.
  2. Add apples, veggies, herbs; pour cider over.
  3. Cover and roast 3-3.5 hours until tender. Rest, shred, serve.

Tip: Meishan pork butt’s rich fat melts slowly, keeping meat tender and flavorful — slow cook low and slow.
