Here are some of our favorite ways to cook Meishan pork
Meishan Meat is much richer in flavor than traditional pork. This combined with the fats ability to render at a lower temperature makes Meishan extra tender.

Fall — Slow-Cooked Meishan Pork Butt with Apples & Root Veggies
Cut: Pork Butt
Serves: 6
Prep + Cook: 3.5 hours
Ingredients:
- 3 lbs pork butt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt & pepper
- 2 apples, sliced
- 3 carrots, chopped
- 2 parsnips, chopped
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 sprigs rosemary
- 2 sprigs sage
- 1 cup apple cider
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 300°F. Brown pork in oil, season well.
- Add apples, veggies, herbs; pour cider over.
- Cover and roast 3-3.5 hours until tender. Rest, shred, serve.
Tip: Meishan pork butt’s rich fat melts slowly, keeping meat tender and flavorful — slow cook low and slow.
